Counselling and Psychotherapy in Nottingham

Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Lesley Holroyd and I'm a BACP Accredited Psychodynamic Counsellor/Psychotherapist working in Carlton (near Arnold), Nottingham. I offer a private and highly confidential one to one counselling and psychotherapy service for people aged eighteen and above. This service offers the opportunity for problems/difficulties to be identified, talked about and explored. As a result, changes and new choices are often made possible. The opportunity is given for a more fulfilling and satisfying life with the capacity to make more helpful decisions for oneself.

I'm a full professional member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and my work is govened by the BACP Code of Ethics. I'm also a UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor/Psychotherapist.

I am experienced in helping clients who have experienced difficulties with :

  • loss and bereavement

  • stress related difficulties

  • anxiety and feeling low

  • domestic violence

  • physical, emotional and sexual abuse

  • relationship and / or family difficulties

  • difficulties with self-esteem or self-image

    My Counselling/Psychotherapy Approach

My counselling/psychotherapy approach is psychodynamic. This approach stresses the importance of the unconscious and past experience in influencing current behaviour. Where appropriate, the client is encouraged to talk about childhood relationships with parents and other significant people. Where the dynamics and experience of these relationships seem to emerge in the client/therapist relationship the therapist will help the client to become aware of this happening. The opportunity is then given to understand and work this through in the immediacy of the sessions with a view to change.

    Equal Opportunites Statement

My counselling/psychotherapy service is offered to people irrespective of gender, ethnic or national origin, culture or religion, social and educational background, sexual orientation, age or disability.
